No, I do not this schools should have dress codes. It gives students a chance to express themselves. Self expression is an important part of our democracy. If we wouldn't tell our adults what to wear why should we tell our kids? Does the school board really thing our parents would let us wear inappropriate clothing? Even if they banned certain clothing it would still be better than boring old uniforms. No, schools definitely should not have uniform dress codes.

I think that schools should have dress codes. Yes,because dress codes are an essential part of our culture. Dress codes promote professionalism. Dress codes can be controversial. Dress codes are necessary in our schools. People are more likely to perform better in school if you have a dress code. They show people that you care about your appearance. . This concludes my opinion that schools should have dress codes.

I,as crazy as it sounds, actually agree with dress codes but do not agree with it's ideas. I don't agree with uniforms or strict dress codes. I think that children should be able to express themselves while using appropriate language and ideas. Especially since most children today don't have very many creative outlets. This is where I stand on the issue of dress codes.

I think that schools shouldn't have dress codes. I think this because most of the schools in the U.S. have no dress codes. They don't have his because it violates their first right of freedom of speech. Also it lets the children express themselves to be who they are and with codes hey have to be this, with this and that. Even if schools keep dress codes they should at least let children where any shirt or shoes. This is were I stand in the school uniform conflict.

No, I think that schools should not have dress codes. If the US government makes us wear a dress code then we are breaking the first amendment. Wearing what we want expresses our imagination. School uniforms can be uncomfortable and take the student's attention from the teacher. Mary Beth Tinker went to the Supreme Court for violating her school dress code and won. As you can see, I think that schools shouldn't have dress codes.

In my opinion, I believe that schools shouldn't have dress codes. The way I see it, dress codes send a clear, negative message to students: Your individuality is inconvenient, the self-identity that you want to express through clothing doesn't belong here. Many people would agree and not just students.

As far as I'm concerned dress codes shouldn't be allowed at school. Without dress codes students would be able to show their individuality and have a more comfortable life at school. I'm afraid I don't agree with the idea of dress codes. They say that dress codes promote professionalism and create a sense of community. I don't agree with this statement because having everyone dress a certain way will take away their individuality and won't allow them to be creative enough to create a sense of community. I do have to say that dress codes are not that big of a deal to begin with.

No, I believe there should not be school uniforms. As long as there are some restrictions, making sure that what students wear is appropriate, I believe that students should wear, for the most part, whatever they want. There are many facts and opinions that strongly support my claim. To start off, I strongly believe that creativity is necessary in all schools. In fact, in countries where creativity is valued in school systems, the grades are significantly higher than in other places. Letting students wear what they want is just one way to let them be creative. I do not think that schools should try to make everyone even. I believe that individuality is an important part of life and being different is better than trying to be the same. Taking people's individuality away is taking away their rights as Americans, including the right of free speech, something highly valued in this country. Finally, making students where something that they might not feel comfortable in is just not right.

Honestly I think that schools should have dress codes because when you and everyone else wears the same thing, nobody can be judged on what they wear as if everyone was allowed to wear whatever they want, you might have on student that might get bullied or insulted for what they have on. In my opinion, everyone should be able to where what they want every once and a while with freedom (with some policies in place). I don't agree with the "no" side because some people would get suspended for what they wear. That's why I think people should have to have a dress code.

In all honesty, I agree with dress codes. It may be an opinionated statement, but I have valid reasoning to express why I feel this way. Uniforms are an easy, and less expensive way to dress in school. You can spend more time thinking academically, rather than what you could wear the next day. You don't have to spend as much money, either. So that makes both you and your parents happy in the long run. Another thing people stress about regarding this topic is how they cannot express themselves through their clothing like they normally do with all of these "restrictions". But a simple solution for this is to accessorize. Using bracelets with your favorite band name on them, wearing pink headbands, new shoes, all these things with show who you are just fine. Even just the way you act is enough. But in my own opinion, expressing yourself with clothing isn't very significant. Surely just talking with people will give a good look at you. You can dress with freedom outside of school, that's plenty of time to express, right? And besides, it may not seem like it, but uniforms can erase the majority of discrimination. Wearing the same thing as others will eliminate any borders between rich and poor, stylish or not. And no one can say anything about it. So really, even if students say they hate it, are uniforms and dress codes all that bad?

Overall, I found the "Yes" side more convincing and I'm leaning towards the "Yes" about if school should have a dress code. In my opinion I found the "Yes" side more convincing because they say that the dress code will help us in the future as adults and that it promotes professionalism. I'm also convinced that the "Yes" side is better because school uniforms help us better in school and we don't get distracted. We also focus less time on picking out outfits and more on school work. I still agree with the "Yes" side but I'd prefer that the uniform policy was less strict and we'd have exceptions and compromises between the school board and the students so we all get what we want and it wouldn't be unfair.

If it were up to me, schools should have dress codes for many different reasons. If students are limited to a dress code, it keeps them looking professional. Suppose you are the manager at a restaurant and all of your employees were wearing their pajamas... the owner would freak out, right! Imagine if that was the school and the Superintendent walked in. Another reason why I strongly believe that schools should have a dress code is because informal shirts may be big and baggy which may pose a safety hazard. Your shirt may get caught on the locker which will cause you to hang yourself! The last reason why I am convinced that schools should have dress codes is because some shirts may be offensive to other students, but the teacher does not realize it. This is only 3 of the many reasons why I am convinced that schools should have a dress code.

Overall, I find the "No" side more convincing. The "No" side explains how dress codes limit students from self-expression.They also tell students that self-expression is an inconvenience. Dress codes tell students their individuality is unimportant and a distraction. Some parts of dress codes even go against our First Amendment right to free speech. Students shouldn't have such strict dress codes because they take away students' rights to individuality and creativity.

The way I see it, dress codes should be enforced in schools. For starters, the students all appear equal, even though some might not be able to afford nice clothes for school, because they're all wearing the same uniform. This would reduce bullying and prevent kids from feeling like they're different and don't fit in. Also, with dress codes students will pay more attention on their school work and less on what they're going to wear. People think dress codes prevent expressionism, but I don't agree. I think that even in uniform, students can make their outfit their own. They can still wear their hair how they want, wear a jacket and shoes of their choice, and I think they can still express themselves even in uniform. However, I do think that schools should be less strict about their dress code. When students get free dress days, that's just another added incentive for schools with uniforms. Another reason, it saves money. Families have to spend less on uniforms than a bunch of different outfits to wear so you never wear the same thing twice. Uniforms make things simpler in general.

I say yes,we should have a dress code. Dress codes are convenient and helpful. They teach us an important life lesson, that you should always dress respectfully. I don't agree that they are saying our individuality is not important because they still give us a chance to express ourselves through our shoes and hair. They are just helping us learn to dress professionally for the future. I honestly feel that without a dress code, it would not only be distracting but could cause bullying and inconvenience.Having to wear the same thing would make everyone equal no matter where they're from how much money they have. You would also have to go and buy more which would cost more than just buying a few uniforms. That's why I think that we should have dress codes in schools.

I personally believe that schools should have dress codes. Dress codes are a way for children to learn a lesson about professionalism at a young age. Dress codes also prevent other students in the class room from getting distracted. This is especially a problem for younger students when their attention is truly needed. If a child doesn't learn something at a young age they are not as likely to understand something in their future. Dress codes also force everyone to wear the same thing making it less likely for a child to get bullied or feel insecure about what they wear. Schools can also use dress codes as behavior incentives for children. Let's say you have no behavior infractions for a nine weeks you could get rewarded with a free dress day encouraging students to behave properly. This is why I believe schools should enforce a dress code.
