December is usually a short month for our TAG classes but we still managed to complete a few projects as well as start and finish a few more. This year our Christmas project to give to our families was a memory jar. Each student decorated a jar to thier liking. Some students used thier fingerprints and created characters, others wrote inspirational messages, while some included family members names, etc. After decorating the outside and the top lid we recorded "core" memories that we will never forget by writing them on small pieces of paper and placed them inside the jar. We also included several blank papers so that once opened more memories could be added throughout the 2017 year. The students wrapped the jars using a box, christmas paper, and ribbons and took the gifts home to be put under the Christmas tree. During this month we also completed our "Campaign for a Cause" projects and our first breakout this year using our BREAKOUT box! In addition to this our Monday TAG class finished thier novel study "Who is Malala?" and after reading and learning all about her story they reflected by writing thier own I am Malala poem as well as completing a Malala mandala linking symbols to her life and her story. The other TAG classes are still reading I AM MALALA having made it to the last part, part V (A New Life, Far from Home).
