Field Trip DetailsWe will leave the Friday evening (October 16th) and return late Monday evening (October 19th).
All food and rooming is included in price. October 16 Travel half way. Please eat before we leave. We will rest for the evening in a hotel. October 17 We will have breakfast at the hotel. We will stop for lunch (Cracker Barrel). We will arrive at Heifer Ranch at 1PM. All students will tour the global village. 6th - 8th grade will stay the night as part of the Global Gateway Program. 6th - 8th grade will eat at the Heifer Ranch. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th: After their tour at the Heifer Ranch, the students will be bused to our hotel in Little Rock. Students will be able to catch a shuttle with their parents/chaperone to visit one of the following locations. http://www.clintonlibrary.gov/ ($7 an adult $3 a child) http://www.nps.gov/chsc/index.htm (FREE ADMISSION!) 1st - 5th will have dinner at the hotel (pizza). The hotel offers free shuttle service to any location within a 5 mile radius of the hotel. October 18 & 19 1st - 5th Breakfast at the Hotel 6th - 8th Breakfast at Heifer Ranch We all head to Arkansas Outdoor School: http://www.uaex.edu/4h-youth/activities-programs/arkansas-outdoor-school.aspx We will have lunch, dinner, breakfast, and lunch here. The rooming situation are bunks much like a camp. Students will actively participate in survival type activities . · 1. Principles of Survival: Learn basic survival skills – participants will make decisions on items to bring and work as a team to build shelters. · 2. Team Challenge: This class offers the group an opportunity to develop team building skills and work together to solve problems, communicate effectively, and achieve goals. The active challenges will give participants a chance to use leadership skills while working together as a team. · 3. Canoeing: Students will learn the fundamentals of canoeing on a 6 acre lake. Communication, management, working together, and effort are essential for the teams as they work together to navigate their canoes. · 4. Create a Creature: By constructing their own creature out of recycled materials students begin to grasp the concepts of adaptations. This class will give students an opportunity to be creative and build from their imagination. · 5. Map Reading: Students learn the basics of reading topography maps and navigation. Advanced class options include learning UTM (Universal Tranverse Mercator) or using a GPS to find coordinates. · 6. GPS Technology: Students will leave with a better understanding of GPS technology as they work together to find caches or complete challenges. After lunch on Monday at the Arkansas Outdoor School we will begin the journey home! We will most likely stop for dinner along the way and return home late in the evening. Total Fee: Maximum cost may be $275 - $300 per person The cost will go down if we have a large number of participants. (When we fill the bus the price drops.) We must put deposits now to book the rooms, buses, and activities. $55 Deposits due on or before September 4th. You can pay the full amount all at once or as follows Payment 1: September 14 – 18 approx.$110.00 -120.00 dollars Payment 2: September 28 – October 2 approx.$110.00 -120.00 dollars Please make checks payable to LeBlanc Elementary. If the total amount is reduced because of the amount of participants, I will notify you. The two locations also offer t-shirts that you can purchase before. Ask me about this if interested.
