August was a super short month for TAG. School closures due to Hurricane Harvey only allowed us to meet once this month. We used this time to complete basic tasks that will set us up for a successful school year. After a brief study of the periodic table of elements the students wrote their names on the front cover of their sketchpad/notebooks using chemical elements. As in introductory creativity activity each student also created a "Name Creature". We discussed bilateral and radial symmetry then created a symmetrical design of our very own name. The next step was to use creative thinking skills to turn our names into a creature of some sort. If you look closely you can see that some designs look like robots, aliens, bugs, cartoon characters, superheroes and much more! It was a fun activity and the personality in each student came out in their finished work. Check our September 2017 Photo Gallery page for more pictures. Details about the activities will be available at the end of each month.
